About the Department

The department of Information Technology, established in the year 2008 with an intake of 60 students has now grown exemplarily with an admirable intake of 120 with 25 highly dedicated faculty and 316 students. The department takes responsibility in organizing guest lectures, seminars, workshops and training programs with the help of engineers and academicians of national and international repute to help students to keep abreast with the latest developments in the field of information technology. Students are made to embolden future technology and master the art of computing by encouraging them to think futuristic by catalyzing Research and Research related activities through the Research and Development cell. As a result of the department’s forthright Research activities, numerous students from the Department of Information Technology have placed their foot prints in numerous International and National forum.

Our department students have been performing excellently in curricular and co-curricular activities, the student’s candid and decisive results in university exams, various state, and National and International awards acknowledges this fact. Our department has taken pioneering initiatives for improving the technical acumen of our students by organizing International and National conference. The departments Symposium committee named Dreadnought and Hackathon committee named Hack in Hub members are working actively in organizing national level symposium and Hackathon every year. Our student’s projects have been funded by various reputed institutions likeTNSCST, DST, AICTE etc, and have been in the limelight for solving various social issues.

The Placement record of the department is excelling and is towering to almost 90% every year. The department poses an excellent and progressive academic record. The Department has deep roots and has consistently maintained its top position and this is possible only with the help of the strong staff support to the department. Numerous staff members have actively involved them self in Research activities and their experience carves students interest to mold their technical knowledge in various fields. The staff and students are active members of ISTE, IEEE, IEI & CSI.

• The Department is accredited by the National Board of accreditation, AICTE.
• The Department bagged 64 Anna University Ranks since inception.
• The Department was awarded twice as the Best Discipline by IEI Chapter.
• It has the privilege of getting funds up to Rs.20 lakhs sponsored by various Government Organizations like AICTE, DST, ISTE, etc. for various innovative and social relevant projects of high caliber.
• The department has been a key player and a pivotal point in holding the prestigious membership of the ISTE, CSI, IEEE and IEI student chapters.
• The department organized many national and International conferences as well as our students have participated in various national and international conferences.
• Faculty members have publications in journals that are indexed by Google scholar, Scopus, Web of Science etc.
• Every year students have actively participated and won prizes in Smart India Hackathon Conducted by AICTE and various institutions.
